i really hope he can turn into a solid starter during his career even though obviously it looks like that would have to be elsewhere.

I posted a pic of my Lindbergh jersey at the end of the last thread.

I would try to find a cheaper veteran back-up than Bobrovsky. I think his flaws will never get fixed. He drops before the shot is released AND he tucks his elbows. As a result, he makes himself small in the net. Consequently, he is very susceptible up high and with traffic in front. That was my assessment back in early November 2010 and I've seen nothing from him to change it. Unfortunately, I agree with Bill's assessment of the market and don't think he holds much trade value.

He's ruined. Flyers have dropped the ball with him.. looked great in 2009-10, never has looked the same.

Awesome jersey! Pelle's first Flyers jersey was the older-style kind with the white/orange horizontal stripe at the bottom. He wore #35 at his first camp and preseason games, rather than his later-familiar #31.

I think Flyers culture does not have a lot of patience with young players. But look at guys like Hartnell who are older and still learning/getting better. I like Bob and I feel like he can be an above average starter, and on a team like Philly with deep D, he could be a good fit, (should he fix his holes).

With Bryz's fragile ego & personality over the last year I think it's important to keep developing our best young netminder and show some patience. If the next couple years are like this past one with his relationship with the media & fans, Bryz might just ask for a trade himself. The point is everyone assumes Bryz's deal cements him as our number 1. I'm assuming nothing, things change very fast in this game and Bob could turn around and steal Bryz's starting job. We should let things play out.

considering he wasn't in the league in 2009-2010, I will disregard the rest of your post, in spite of the great wisdom contained within.

To me, it comes down to if there is a bonus cushion in the next CBA. If there is, there there is really no reason to bother to trade Bob in light of the market and our other pressing needs. If all of his salary would count against the cap, then I would consider moving him in package if it otherwise made sense.

That said, regarding the CBA, I really hope the sides can get together an work out a deal without any lost time next year. Hockey is really picking up steam and viewers now and i would hate to lose that momentum.

Bryz is not going anywhere no should he. I really think the media angle on him and others is often times overblown. I expect that he will be more consistent in the next campaign and things will settle down. Best case, Bob will show talent in the games that he starts and increase his trade value at the end of the year for the TDL or next summer.

I agree...as much as I wanted Bryz to carry the full load, i know it's tough to come into any new city/team and play your best. It takes time to get adjusted to a new system, new players and even to the media.
Can and will he play better? yes...
I do believe things were just overblown. In the end, he has an 8 year contract and he's not going anywhere any time soon. The team lost in the playoffs not just Bryz.

you finally had a young goalie come onto the scene but an owner and fan base that wanted a legit #1 goalie. Well, you cannot have both...
so after the debacle of last year, the Flyers signed Bryz
That does not leave the team any room to really work on having a young goalie mature. Plus it's only 3 years...some goalie are late bloomers.

Where do you go from here...
if you have a legit number #1 and i think Bryz is that...
you need to find a veteran back up who understands his role, not a young pup waiting in the wings.

Yes, although Heeter could end up seeing some time in the ECHL.

so if you don't trade Bob, maybe stash him in AHL (waivers?) with Hovinen and sign a backup?

the flyes would have to make sure and it's not 100% that Bob will not be claimed, if he is half of his salary will be dead cap space.
